Boat sea fishing
There are boats that may take you out from Pooltiel pier. The main fish caught are pollack( up to 14lb) and mackerel, you can also catch dogfish, tope,wrasse,coalfish skate and other flatfish. Sea trout have been caught in the estuary of the Hamera river.Ask at the post office for a permit for river and loch fishing.

Shore fishing
The best place on Skye for shore fishing are the rocks at Neist Point Lighthouse which are 1 mile from the cottage.Be warned it is a half an hour walk to the rocks(easy going down, but hard coming up with a bag full of fish), however there are concrete steps and a tarmac track.The best two spots are a rock platform to the right of the lighthouse( facing west), follow the white painted rock stone wall.And to the left of the light house half way from the light to the far point(facing the outer isles).Ask locally for information.The next best place is the rock promontary next to Meanish pier, casting out towards the waterfall(use feathers or spinners).Avoid low tide or you will lose tackle in the weed.
