July

Sorry, bit of a gap here. We've had some wonderful weather through May and June. This corner of Skye seemed to avoid most of the heavy showers experienced elsewhere on the island. In fact, it's been almost drought conditions until very recently.

The mackerel were late arriving, although there have been plenty of sand eels this year, so hopefully the seabirds are doing well. Minke whales were slow to arrive too, one seen feeding off the merchant and the mouth of the loch today. We enjoyed a sunset cruise here on the 27th June, with porpoises around the boat and a huge flight of shearwaters calling eerily as the sun went down (at 10.30).

On a  walk to McLeods Maidens on a glorious Sunday a few weeks ago we saw four white tailed eagles and a goldie. The sea is much warmer and we've been swimming a few times.
